On a whim my mom decided to come up to Seattle this weekend, to help me move my stuff down and to enjoy a true Seattle Summer (which is coincidentally identical to its Fall, Winter and Spring!). She brought with her some of my mail, a goody bag for helping out at Jordan and Tobey's wedding and a little packaged wrapped with a cute leopard bow from Connor. She said it was just a little something from him. Not much. So I thought, how sweet, Connor bought me a necklace, or maybe he baked brownies and wanted me to have some.
So I unwrapped it, taking my time. It was a brown box about 3" x 4". The label on the outside said: nuvi 295W, NA, MAPS, and I don't read code so I had no clue what that meant. At first when I opened it, all I saw were cords and plastic bags. Wait a minute. I dug a little in the 3 x 4 box and picked up something with a screen, that said GARMIN nuvi at the bottom of it. No way! Connor bought me a GPS! With his own combining, seed bagging, farm working money, Connor bought me my very first GPS. Wow. Either he was sick of me always getting us lost, or he has the kindest heart known to man. What a great brother. I think I had a pretty typical reaction, too... first i gasped, then I just started crying. I could hardly believe it. Connor, you are awesome.
I can't even call to thank him right now because he is out hunting with my dad in the middle of nowhere (bet you wish you had hung on to that GPS a little longer, eh?). So here's to my best friend, my brother: Connor. Thank you.
You make me feel like the most important person in the world when I'm around you. I love that you stiffen up and pretend to be annoyed when I come home from Seattle because I bombard you with hugs (I know you secretly love it). I love when you are so intense and wrestle me to the ground so I can't move because I am laughing so hard. I love how you put up with my OCD of needing to make sure the lamp is always clicked twice. I even love how you don't say "I love you" back right away; you wait until I am half way out the driveway to come outside and say those three worlds. But mostly, I love how you are allowing God to shape your heart to be a wonderful person, one GPS at a time.
Connor, I love you. And, as dad would say: "Thanks bro!"
I have the BEST kids. All of them! They are all so different, yet also very similar. I love that I can laugh really hard with all of them, I love that they are all smart. They all have the most amazing hearts and even though they all express themselves in different ways it all comes from the same kind of loving heart. I love them all!
