HPFA: Harry Potter Fans Anonymous...

Have you ever been so excited about something you think you could just cry? I feel like that about 4 things: my brother, the kitties, my mom‘s warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven, and Harry Potter. Oh, how I love Harry Potter. I love Harry Potter so much, I printed my tickets from Fandango 4 times! (okay, to my defense I didn’t know my computer was wirelessly connected to a printer in someone else’s cubical…)

But, I’m one of those cool Harry Potter fans… right? Sure, I quoted almost the whole Harry Potter 7 part 1 while watching it two nights in a row… but that doesn’t mean I’m obsessed…right?

Don’t get me wrong, I think that some of the acting is awkward, in fact, I get weird feelings every time Daniel Radcliff comes on screen (and not because I think he is dreamy)…

Wait… does having a whole blog post dedicated to Harry Potter mean I’m obsessed? I mean, this has been a part of my life since the sixth grade when the first book came out (minus the follow 6 years after it came out when I forgot about it).

I started reading the books when Rachel Ewing and I were hanging out a lot Senior year of high school. Rachel, Mary and Analia always talked about it, and I felt really left out. My only option: “pretend” to like Harry Potter...

Then Jared came around and I felt like I was battling for his attention with a fictional character, Hermione Granger. I remember going to see the midnight showing of Harry Potter 5: The Order of the Phoenix, and Jared couldn’t make it down from Port Angeles to join us. Mary called him after the show, around 2:30 AM, and was telling him how awesome it was. Their conversation went a little like this, on speakerphone:

Jared: On a scale of 1–10, how hot was Hermione.
Mary: A definite Babe. At least a 9.
Jared: Yeah, that'swhat I expected. She is a babe. Is Paige next to you?
Mary: Yes, we all went to see it together. You want to talk to her?
Jared: No. But on a scale of 1-10, how hot is Paige...

Oh, how embarrassing! Can you believe he compared me to a fictional character. I mean I can’t say I was surprised, but still… I know that some of my love for HP came after Jared’s accident. When he died, I wanted to hold on to as many connections I had with him as possible, that is why I split myself into seven of his favorite things.. okay, Harry Potter joke, I'll stop now...

Just look at him, who would want to lose connections to this...
