A Week of Thanks

My Thanksgiving week was spent in three different locations: Huntington Beach, Santa Rosa and Jacksonville, OR.

Here is how the story begins...

After a grueling 6:50 AM flight from Long Beach to Oakland, I had the privilege of attending my first live 49ers game. I say live because ever since moving down here I have watched more football than ever (give or take a few years in high school...) I am now fluent in Fantasy Football lingo and know more football player's names than Biblical characters...

At the game, we tailgated in the rain, and I have obviously forgotten what rain is because I wore a light jacket and my Toms. Anyone who owns a pair of Toms know your entire shoe is totally soaked upon contact with water. So my brother-in-law let me borrow a pair of shoes and an old jacket to keep the rain away...

I stayed up in Santa Rosa for a few days to visit with my sister and I also got the privilege of visiting with Kelly Ritter because only living about an hour away, she drove up for some homemade Mexican food.

I spent the rest of the week in the company of wonderful friends at the Jung's house in Southern Oregon. Kelly and Alex, two of my best friends from SPU, drove down from Seattle to spend this Thankful holiday with us, while Courtney and I drove up from Pasadena. Meeting in the middle, I heard its a great place to be. Courtney's parents live in Jacksonville, OR, population: 2,235.

We spent most of the week eating, giggling, catching up on stories and being thankful. Plus wine tasting, multiple encounters with Dutch Bro's, a stop at the J-Ville Tavern and sleeping 11 hours each night.

The trip ended with a 14 hour car ride from Southern Oregon to Pasadena, followed by another hour drive to pick up my car in Huntington Beach, followed by another hour drive to take myself home... If I don't ever get in a car again, I'd be just fine.

All in all, good company was had, good food was eaten and my Christmas music has been blasting non stop.
