I thought I would feel guilty spending a sunny Saturday indoors all day, but then I remembered that almost every Saturday is sunny here :) So I opened up all my shudders and let the natural light flow through my windows. Yes, people, I said natural lighting... that is what happens when you have 3 walls of windows.
(you think the clutter in my room stresses you out... try watching "Hoarders: Buried Alive." People really live like that... really?)
In the far back corner of the picture - Liz Bates, soon-to-be Liz Poole, has entrusted me the honor of making her a t-shirt quilt with all her favorite shirts from high school and college. I have been messing around with the layout for days, and thought I would give you a sneak peak at the bottom left corner of the set up I have chosen.
She confided that yellow and grey are her most recent obsessions, and I took to the streets looking. I made it as far as Jo-Ann's Fabrics, where I picked up yellow fabrics, but I found no Liz-worthy grays. I headed out to greater LA to find some trendy, hole-in-the-wall fabric stores. {Sew L.A.} is my new obsession. They have cute, original fabrics, decently priced, and they are located in Silver Lake, known to be hipster town (side note: when describing Silver Lake as "hipster town," to my sister, she thought I made up the term {Hipster}. Thank you, Britt, for thinking I am that creative). I cannot wait to put the finishing touches on this quilt!(*see below)
This snapshot of Robyn crafting away really captures what we did for a good chunk of our sunny Saturday. We cut up old magazines, thanks to {Claire Voisine}, and glued our favorite pictures onto a piece of old canvas board. Well... Robyn has not quite finished hers, so I will have to post those later, and I cheated because I finished mine last week... But here at the two pieces of art that now hang proudly on my wall. Thanks mom, for teaching me how to collage so well :)
The final products:
very cool Paige...my favorite is the first one, but they are both hipster!
